Just like in the Super Smash Bros. series, Smash Ponies would have a number of exciting stages to play on, most of which have some sort of hazard that can injure or even K.O. a player.

Ponyville: Ponyville is a small stage where most of the action takes place on the rooftops of the village. None of the buildings in Ponyville are particularly tall, so there are no holes in this stage. Players must be knocked off through the sides or top of the stage. The bottom of the stage consists of Ponyville's main road, where pony carriages occasionally pass by and will damage players they bump into. Several landmarks, including Carousel Boutique, Sugarcube Corner and Twilight's library can be seen in the background.

Sweet Apple Acres: Sweet Apple Acres in a medium-sized stage that consists of The Apple Family's Barn, their house, and a large apple tree on the right side of the stage. Players can fight on top of these tree objects. The barn can be destroyed, but will respawn after roughly thirty seconds. Players caught near the barn will take damage from the debris. The apple tree will also occasionally drop apples which can be picked up for slight health. Like Ponyville, this stage has no holes. The main danger is the stampede of cattle that will run across the ground every once in a while. Players must stay on top of the barn, house and tree to avoid taking damage. These cows will inflict a large amount of damage and have a good chance of K.O.'oing a player with high damage.

Cloudsdale: Cloudsdale is a medium-sized stage that mostly takes place on the rooftops of the city. There are two small clouds on the far left and right sides of the stage that can be used as platforms. There are several dangers in this stage. First, players must watch out for an occasional pegsus flying across the top of the stage. Sometimes a team of Wonderbolts will streak by. These annoying hazards can interrupt a player's air attacks or even K.O. if the pegasus is moving fast. Another danger lies within the clouds on the sides of the stage. Every once in a while, pegasi will land on the clouds and begin jumping on them. During this time, the clouds become charged with lightning and will damage players who touch them. Obviously, there are also holes on the left and right sides of the stage.

Friendship Express: The Friendship Express is a large moving stage. This stage will always begin at Ponyville Station. After about ten seconds of fighting, the train will begin to move. It starts off moving slow, but will quickly pick up speed. This is where things start to get dangerous. The players will continue to fight on top of the traincars while they move at a slow pace towards the right side of the screen, and the players must continue to jump between the railcars as they leave the screen. A player will be killed if they are carried off the screen by the leading car. Players can also fall to the ground between the cars and if they don't immediately jump back up, they will be thrown off the left side of the screen very fast from the momentum of the train's speed. After several minutes of fighting, the train will stop at Dodge Junction. After a few more seconds, the train will start moving again, towards Canterlot, where it stops one more time before heading back to Ponyville Station. Once the train returns there, the players will be at the caboose of train. That train will take off again without the players, and another one will arrive to take its place and the action will resume as this train makes another round through the three stops.

Ponyville Mountains: Ponyville Mountains is a large, dangerous stage. The stage itself is made up of three platforms of varying height and two holes, one between each platform. The first hazard of this stage comes in the form of a rock slide. Every once in a while. the screen will shake, signaling that the rockslide is about to begin. Once it does, large boulders will drop from the top of the stage and cause moderate damage to players they hit, as well as sending them flying at high damage percentages. The second danger of Ponyville Mountains comes from the background of the stage. Occasionally, the red dragon will emerge from his cave in the background, angry that the fighting has woken him from his slumber. He will fly towards the right of the screen and disappear. A few seconds later, he will streak by and coat the platforms of the stage with either smoke or fires. The fires will cause a slight amount of damage to those who touch it, while the smoke will obscure the players' view of the fight. Touching the dragon while he flies by will also cause a large amount of damage and send players flying.

Everfree Forest: This is a medium sized stage that takes place along the ground of the forest, with a couple of holes to fall down. Occasionally a cockatrice will appear at a random location and emit a beam from its eyes. Players who look at this beam will be briefly turned to stone. Zecora's hut can be seen in the background.

Canterlot Castle: This is a very large stage that has no real hazards, but makes up for it with its immense size. This stage takes place across the entire roof of the castle with two holes on either side. A belltower in the middle can prevent players from being sent flying upwards.

Crystal Palace: This stage takes place on top of the Crystal Empire's palace, with a large hole on either side of the stage. The only real hazard on this stage is King Sombra, who will occasionally appear and assault the players with a number of magic attacks, including a ball that will crystallize the fighter that it touches, rendering them immobile.

Discord's Equestria: This is a (predictably) chaotic stage taken straight from “Return of Harmony.” Players fight amidst a rain of chocolate while the screen moves towards the left. Players must avoid the various hazards as the stage scrolls. Any number of Discord's bizarre mutated creatures, including giant, vicious rabbits can terrorize and damage the players. Small building appear on the stage that the players can fight on, but will sometimes rise into the air and k.o. any player still standing on it from the top of the screen. After a while, the buildings will drop back down, damaging and knocking back players that it touches. Holes open and close at complete random. Parts of the ground will rise suddenly to block player's paths.

Battlefield: Same as in the Smash Bros. Version, Battlefield is a small and simple stage with no hazards, just a main platform and three smaller platforms sandwiched between two holes.

Final Desti-neigh-tion: Same is in the Smash Bros. version, this is the simplest of stages, just one long platform between two holes.
